PROJECT
Client Outreach Brochure

CLIENT
Center for Family Life

Produced in English and Spanish, this 12-panel pocket-size brochure features bright colors and friendly faces, all in invitation to neighborhood residents to take advantage of of this multi-service organization’s programs for children, youth and families.

PROJECT
We Dig Ink

CLIENT
Hudson Printing

Wouldn’t it be funny if all the employees of a printing company were heavily tattooed? That was the premise of this printer's brochure, featuring stock photos presented as staff people. I also wrote most of the copy.

Inserted in this postcard-size brochure was a self-adhesive insert (the bald head) later spotted in cubicles on sales calls, indicating that recipients enjoyed the joke too.

PROJECT
Annual Report

CLIENT
The Marfan Foundation

Each spread of this annual report focuses on an element of the mission, such as educating people, empowering them, and connecting them. Each left page features a story about the organization's impact on members of the community, while the right illustrates the foundation's achievements.

PROJECT
Mobilizing Voters of Color

CLIENT
Community Change Action

Community Change Action worked hard to get out the vote and advocate for progressive candidates and issues in the 2018 U.S. election. Afterward, they issued a report highlighting their work and touting their victories.

My job was to take a ton of text, some statistics, and new brand guidelines (including the wild color palette) and turn them into materials that conveyed the dynamic energy of the movement while keeping the information accessible.

PROJECT
Report Templates

CLIENT
Community Health Care Association of New York State

With minimal funding available, the client requested a template they could use to generate one-page reports for each of dozens of community health centers. Using data for one center, a template in word, with a choice of three background images, allowed them to customize reports for each center.

PROJECT
Progress Reports

CLIENT
Center for Family Life

Not your average annual reports, these 80–100+ page books are updated each year to meet reporting requirements of major funders. In addition to dozens of charts and tables, the text is augmented by illustrations based on photographs that mimic the woodcut style of the organization’s logo.

PROJECT
The Power of Community

CLIENT
National Alliance on Mental Illness, New York City Metro

The design of this annual report was built around quotes and photographs of individuals served by the organization along with corresponding themes such as hope, community and connection. Golden currents sweep across spreads to visually connect each section, reinforce an upbeat tone, and suggest the vibrancy of "The Power of Community."

PROJECT
Every Step

CLIENT
Children's Aid

A brochure accompanying a direct mail appeal played off the organization's new tagline, Every Step of the Way, with a board game motif on the inside illustrating the programs and benefits provided for children and youth from preschool through college.

PROJECT
Keeping the Promise

CLIENT
Children's Aid Society

This 36-page strategic plan balances pages of dense text with full-page photos, maps, and extra-narrative sections set on orange backgrounds. The brand colors help break up the text, along with large subtitles and pull-quotes.

PROJECT
Strength on the Water

CLIENT
Row New York

Large, full-color photos bring to life this program's central activity, rowing, while the landscape orientation of the pages mirrors that of the 8-person boats used for racing. Infographics illustrate the need for the program, and their successes.

PROJECT
Justice Snapshot Ethiopia Report

CLIENT
Justice Mapping

This 200+ page report was adapted from a vast, interactive website for which I designed dozens of maps and other data visualizations. The landscape format included more than 120 pages of text, set in two columns to make it easier to read.
